History

Almost Home Kennels was founded by Stan and Marilyn Feinzig over 20 years ago. Stan built the first building in 1986 and construction on the second building was undertaken in 1990. Our facility today is a state of the art boarding kennel with 52 indoor/outdoor runs and a cattery with 7 cat condos. Each run is heated with radiant heat (heat that comes up through the floor) and both buildings are fully air-conditioned. The kennel is situated in Putnam County on 24 acres of wooded property.

In October of 2004, Stan and Marilyn retired to Florida. Brian Visokay purchased the kennel from Stan and Marilyn and has continued their tradition of caring for each guest as though they were “our own”. Brian owns and breeds Basset hounds and spends a good deal of his free time showing them.

Chris, our kennel manager, has been with us since 1999 and came to us with 10 years experience in the business. Both Brian and Chris live on the property year round.
